- Nuclear Power
Nuclear power plants are a proven safe and clean resource to powering our nation. When a new plant is created, it creates thousands of stable, well-paying jobs. If elected, I will work to reduce the regulatory burden to ensure that these plants can be built and made operational in a timely manner.
- Exploration
I believe that we need to aggressively explore all domestic sources of energy. This is not only an economic imperative, but a national security imperative as well. Additionally, most often our methods of exploring and extracting energy sources are more environmentally friendly than that of the countries and regions that we are purchasing the very same energy sources from currently. Opening up domestic energy production would provide an enormous economic boost to our country.
- Cap and Trade Opposition
The versions of Cap and Trade legislation that have been drafted in Congress to date would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year - $1,761 per American household. I am an environmentalist, but would vigorously oppose this costly and ineffective attempt to reduce greenhouse gases. This legislation is the classic example of “symbolism over substance” and will accomplish little more than stripping us of more of our freedoms.
