- Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
The reckless disregard of Congress to maintain fiscal responsibility is proof that only the constraints required by a balanced budget amendment will impose the necessary discipline.
- Support Earmark Reform
Although earmarks equate to approximately 3% of the total federal budget, they amount to up to 20% of Congress’ discretionary budget each year. This has lead to widespread wastefulness of taxpayers’ money. More importantly, it has created an environment where Congressional offices create the appearance of being for sale to the highest bidder, Republican or Democrat. Transparency and strict reform of the earmark process will be the only viable option to reducing this type of wasteful, pork barrel spending.
- Debt Reduction
China and Japan currently both hold an immense amount of our national debt. This is not only a fiscal issue; it is a national security issue. If we keep selling mass amounts of U.S. Treasury securities to powerful nations, we will put ourselves in grave danger of losing our sovereignty.
